- Emergency Appointments -

The Consular Section understands that in certain circumstances, unexpected and urgent travel to the United States will be needed. A possibility exists that a visa appointment will not be available in time for that travel. If that is the case, an emergency appointment request should be submitted. To submit such a request, follow these steps:

1. Still book the next earliest appointment in the online appointment system, even if it is after your intended travel date. Emergency appointment requests will not be considered if the requester has not made an appointment.

2. Send an email to PTLConsular@state.gov with the following information: name, date of birth, appointment confirmation number, date of expected travel, emergency reason for travel.

You will receive a response within one business day. It is important to remember that emergencies usually involve extreme circumstances, such as the illness or death of a family member. A purchased airline ticket, a business meeting, or an expired visa are examples of possible scenarios that do not constitute an emergency.
