The Political Section is responsible for advising and supporting the Ambassador on bilateral relations between the Republic of Mauritius and the Republic of Seychelles.
The Political Section represents U.S. Government positions to the governments of the two countries. The Political Section also conducts public outreach to convey information to the public to promote understanding of the United States and its policies.
In addition, the Political Section administers the Ambassador's Self Help Fund and the Democracy and Human Rights Fund, and prepares reports on human rights, international religious freedom, and trafficking in persons. The Political Section also writes reports periodically on political and social developments and trends in each country.
