U.S. Passports

The Consular Section can issue passports to American citizens applying for the first time, renewing an expired passport, or applying for a replacement for a lost or stolen passport.

Passport applications are normally processed in six working days.  Passport applicants will be instructed to visit the TNT Desk located on the ground floor of the same building that houses the Embassy to set up delivery. You should be prepared to provide a delivery address, telephone number and pay a delivery fee of Rs115 inclusive of VAT. In case of genuine emergency, however, a limited validity passport can often be issued on the same day the application is approved.  The U.S. Embassy also can supply additional passport visa pages at no cost.
