U.S. Chargé d'Affaires Troy Fitrell led a talk on the U.S. Electoral Process on Wednesday January 25 at the N. Saddul College in Vacoas (center). Students and teachers from neighboring high schools attended.

Mauritian PM Meets Deputy USTR
The Deputy USTR Ambassador Demetrios Marantis paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister of Mauritius, Dr. Navin Ramgoolam. He was accompanied by the delegation including Assistant USTR Florizelle Lizer and representatives of the Department of State and USAID.

U.S. Delegation Visits AGOA Beneficiary
Ambassador Marantis and the U.S. delegation visited Plastinax Austral, which exports over 60% of its total production to the U.S. Plastinax Austral is a good example of a company benefitting from AGOA, with its exports to the U.S. expected to increase by 30% in 2012.

U.S. - Mauritius: New Engagements
Chargé d’Affaires Troy Fitrell hosted a reception on Martin Luther King Day (MLK) on January 16. It was an opportunity for guests to learn about MLK through a paper show especially displayed. The Deputy USTR Demetrios Marantis and graduates of an educational program were also honored at this event.

5th TIFA Council Meeting
The Deputy United States Trade Representative (USTR), Ambassador Demetrios Marantis, led a high level delegation to Mauritius in the context of the 5th TIFA Council Meeting in Mauritius. The delegation includes the Assistant USTR Florizelle Liser and representative of USAID East Africa, Matthew Rees.

TIFA Council Meeting Announced
The Economic Affairs officer Hugo Jimenez announced the participation of Deputy USTR Demetrios Marantis at the 5th TIFA Council Meeting in Mauritius next week. It was during a press conference held jointly with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in presence of SFA Anund Neewoor.
