2010-2011 HUBERT H. HUMPHREY FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

This year, applicants need to complete their entire application online at: http://apply.embark.com/student/humphrey/fellowship/.    
 
Appropriate candidates are mid-career professionals in leadership positions who have a commitment to public service and the potential for professional advancement. Prospective Fellows should have a minimum of five years of professional experience, after completing a university degree, prior to August 2010 and should be interested in the policy aspects of their fields of specialization. Candidates must have completed a university degree program requiring at least four years of full-time study in order to qualify for participation in U.S. graduate study programs.

The Fellowship is not designed to offer a degree but to provide broad, professional enrichment through a combination of activities tailored to each participant's interest.  During their Fellowship year, Humphrey Fellows participate in programs that combine graduate-level academic course work with professional development activities.  Selected candidates should produce a signed letter from their employer agreeing to give them one year off to pursue their U.S. internship. 

Fields of study include:

a. Agricultural and Rural Development
b. Communications/Journalism
c. Substance Abuse Education, Treatment, and Prevention (Candidates in this field must either have a research background in the field or demonstrate an ability to learn the results and policy implications of current research. The candidates should be recruited and ranked together with candidates in other fields, and must complete a supplementary
field-specific application page)
d. Economic Development/Finance and Banking
e. Educational Administration, Planning and Policy
f. HIV/AIDS Policy and Prevention
g. Human Resource Management
h. Law and Human Rights
i. Natural Resources/Environmental Policy/Climate Change
j. Public Health Policy and Management
k. Public Policy Analysis and Public Administration
l. Teaching of English as a Foreign Language (Teacher Training or Curriculum Development)
m. Technology Policy and Management
n. Trafficking in Persons, Policy and Prevention
o. Urban and Regional Planning

Deadline for submission of complete applications is Monday, July 6, 2009.
